Guinea Pigs Chinchillas Prairie Dogs Rats Hamsters Gerbils Mice Downloads With the exception of prairie dogs, most pet rodents are domesticated animals and well adapted to captivity. Rodents vary somewhat in their care. All of them require a clean environment, fresh, wholesome food, and clean water at all times. While they are commonly kept as pets for young children, it is essential for parents to take responsibility for assuring that proper care is accomplished. Children will learn responsibility by example. Supervision is essential during handling of these small pets to prevent injury to child or pet. Remember that most rodents are very prolific breeders and if unchecked, can easily overpopulate your house. To learn more specific care information, click on the links to the left.
