Proper dental care is important for puppies and adult dogs. Baby teeth are usually all erupted by 6 weeks of age. Baby teeth fall out and adult come in between 3 and 6 months of age.

We encourage dog and cat owners to try to introduce regular teeth brushing when their pets are still young. We recommend a dentifrice or paste such as CET brand pet toothpaste. Human products should not be used because they can be swallowed and cause vomiting and potential toxicity. In addition, pet toothpastes are flavored to improve compliance. Brushing along the gumline with a soft toothbrush or finger cot should be done every other day to stay ahead of tartar.
