Did you know? Dr. Ken will be teaching a short course in Reptile and Amphibian Medicine at a veterinary college in Grenada. I will be in Grenada from 1-2-09 to 1-10-09. While we are there, we'll check out some of the nature fauna! In addition to his work here in town Dr. Ken is a well known speaker nationwide. He has been a speaker at the Annual Conference of the Association of Avian Veterinarians nearly every year since 1995. In addition, he has been an invited speaker in Canada, Hawaii, Washington state, Missouri, and Ohio. In 2004, Dr. Ken presented at The North American Veterinary Conference, the largest veterinary conference in the world. In 2005 he was invited to Australia as keynote speaker for the Association of Avian Veterinarians Australian Committee. Keep an eye on this site for details of our trip!
When we arrived we were greeted by our Australian counterparts, Jim and Marilyn, and taken to their cabin. Their bird feeder had about 100 wild parrots eating. There were a dozen kangaroos in the yard. It was a great start to an unforgettable trip. Dr. Mary has finished her term of office as president of the Eastern Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, and now represents Eastern Illinois on the Board of the ISVMA. Dr. Mary was very active with the development of the Urbana Dog Park as well. Dr. Ken has finished his five year term as Treasurer for the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Dr. Ken was a finalist for the 2002 Lafeber Avian Practioner award. January 2009: We just returned from Grenada! Dr. Ken taught a short course on Reptile and Amphibian Medicine at St. Georges. University Veterinary School. After the course we spent a couple of days exploring the island.
Ameiva lizards are abundant. It was -10° F the week we returned. Not so tropical. |
